Established in 1968, Abington Township Volunteer Fire Department has been serving our township and the surrounding areas for over 55 years. The Department began with only a used pumper, 800-gallon tanker truck with a mounted pump and a 1,000-gallon Fold-A-Tank and was stored in a renovated garage of the very first appointed fire chief Curtis Gilmore. It all started with a very dedicated group of 22 active members and 21 reserve firefighters, of which 11 were the very first in Indiana's history's women firefighters. To This day Abington Township Volunteer Fire Department hold true to tradition having 15 active firefighters, 3 being women and 1 of them holding the proud rank of lieutenant.
Our mission is to save lives protect property and environment, and strengthen community relationships through professionalism, commitment, and dedication to the people we serve.

If you would like to help us build a new fire station to continue to serve our community and the communities around us it would be very much appreciated.
